Gus turned 2 on the 23rd of March. He spent the whole year telling everyone he was 2 and we spent the whole year telling him he was only 1. Now that he is 2 we are having to convince him to tell people he is 2 and not 1. He must think we are stupid. Gus' birthday actually fell on a Wednesday which are busy days for us even when it isn't Lent. He is still young enough that he doesn't really know much about birthdays, so he didn't care that the day wasn't all about him.
We opened presents after we picked up John from school, before heading to church. I was given a very cute blue shirt that said 'Birthday Boy' for him to wear, but Mickey won out. Sorry Deb. He has worn the shirt since, which makes me believe that Gus will be like his dad. We seem to celebrate Hans' birthday for about a month after his actual birthday.
John was very excited when he saw the presents. He kept asking where his were. At least he gets to play with all of them.
I had a cool train cake pan that I was going to make. But, someone from church brought this Thomas cake for the dinner before the service. Gus loved it!!
John loved it too. These people certainly know how to win their way into John and Gus's hearts.
Everyone sang Happy Birthday and Gus got to blow out the candle. Then we all went to church. It was a good day.
