3 Boys in a Tiny Room

All three boys had been begging for quite awhile to share a room.  Poor little Anders was feeling a bit left out.  In an effort to include Anders, and to give John more space, we had switched up the rooms and had Gus and Anders sharing and John by himself.  That didn't cut it. The bedrooms in our house are tiny so I was going to wait to move them all together until we finished off the bedroom in our walk-out basement.  But the boys didn't want to wait that long.  So we headed to Ikea to see what we could find.

We managed to fit all three boys in this small room.  They love it.  Every once in awhile when they are being rowdy I'll threaten to move them all back the way they were.  That gets them to settle down pretty quickly.  Someday I know they will all want their own space.  For now I will enjoy the fact that they love being together...at least when they are sleeping.

Anders' Room

This was the last room completed.  It's okay.  Anders didn't care.  As long as he has a place to lay his head at night he is just fine.

Before
Aside from the laundry room, this room was the only one in the house not painted.  I wonder what this room was used for before.  It sure was dirty.

After
This room took me a long time.  Particularly because the best time to paint is when Anders is asleep.

This was a lot of fun though, and he will be keeping it for awhile.  Especially since I already bought coordinating bedding for a big boy bed and I'm not willing to paint over this anytime in the near future.

John and Gus's Room

Okay, I'm ready to reveal the room transformations.  There are still 490 things I want to do to the house, but for now I'm content...and out of money.

Everything that was able to be painted was painted.  Ceilings, baseboards, window sills and doors were all covered in new paint. A big thanks to my sister in-law and brother in-law for being incredibly awesome and having paint delivered to my door.  If you are ever looking for a good quality paint that covers in minimal coats, check out Valspar.

Before
This pepto pink mess is the boys room.  I wrote here that I was going to paint this room first but sadly it wasn't the first, second or even third room painted.  But, I don't think the boys suffered any permanent damage by sleeping in a pink room for a month...or two.
After

I really can't take any credit for this transformation.  I just painted the base coat and my mom did the rest.  She is very meticulous.  Can you tell?

The boys just love their room.  Which is good because it is staying this way for a long, long time.

Pregnancy update and house stuff

Today I had a ultrasound done to see how big the baby is and because of some scheduling issues I had to go to the hospital for this particular sonogram. Needless to say the doctor did not get the report in time for my appointment so I don't know much. The ultrasound tech told me the baby is measuring about 6lbs 90z, but my doctor says that the radiologist will take other measurements into account before determining a size. Needless to say I don't think he will induce any earlier than the 23rd because the baby doesn't show to be big enough to justify taking him or her now. The thought of this depresses me since I'm not sleeping well and in lots of pain, but I guess I can make it 2 1/2 more weeks. On the bright side the baby has dropped as far as he/she will go so it is quite possible I will go into labor on my own early...I'm hoping for this!

I will not be posting anymore preggo pictures because I find myself utterly unattractive at this point, so the next time you will see my face in a pic will be after the baby is born, I'll try to remember to wear make-up for all of you.

On to house stuff. We moved into this house in July and have managed to paint every room since we've been here. We've also done a lot of work outside and virtually gutted the bathroom. I find this all to be crazy since we don't own the house and never will. However, we've made it home for now. I also think it is funny that I'm going to get this house just the way I like it and then we will move, we are hoping to buy a house within the next year.

This is the kids' room

Here is a close-up of the wall. My mom free handed all of this and I supervised.

This is the before picture of the laundry portion of the basement...

and here is the after pic. As you can see I still have to finish painting the cabinets.

These are the back stairs before...

and after.

The biggest change by far was the bathroom. It took us a while to complete but we actually only lived with the pink tiles for a week before we just took it all down and lived with the studs for awhile.

Doesn't this look much better?
