Dirt and Water

Boys think that dirt and water are a good combination.  My boys think they are an excellent combination and will gladly indulge whenever they get the chance.  It was in the upper 90s when we were in Texas so the boys were loving the sprinklers.  They also loved when a couple of holes in the ground filled with water so the could get sufficiently dirty.
It was getting a little crowded with two boys and one sprinkler...

so the boys decided to branch out on their own.

A hole with dirt in it!!

Then they found large amounts of dirt.  It was nice of grandpa to take a break from building the shed so they could have a nice play place.

John got to play in the sprinklers in the front yard.

Gus didn't think it was fair that he couldn't play.

It was very cute when they worked together.

Mud, lots of mud.

This is the life.

Sprinkler Fun...Well, Maybe Just Sprinklers

We had a rather warm day last week and I decided to get out a sprinkler that a lady in our church gave John for his birthday.  We had been working out in the yard all day, and some sprinkler time seemed to be just what the boys needed.
John was very hesitant about the water.  I find this funny because he loved the sprinklers at my parent's house last summer.

While John held back, August walked right up in the line of fire.

Then he got really upset with the sprinkler sprayed him.  He just stood there screaming, all while he kept getting wet.

We finally rescued him, but it was pretty funny.

Then John decided to be brave...

and take advantage of his new found courage.

But Hans got his revenge.

Overall John had a good time.  The jury is still out on Gus.

Texas Trip- Part 3

It wouldn't be a full trip to Texas if John didn't get to paint in Grandma's art room. He had a great time, of course, and made many beautiful paintings.

What kid doesn't like sprinklers?

Baseball, baseball, baseball. He played baseball every night with Mark, but since we didn't have a bat or proper ball he played with a wooden spoon and whatever round, soft object was on hand. On our second day my mom bought him a bat and ball and he had a blast.

Oh- he is a righty who bats left...who knew?

Someday Gus will want to play, but for now he is content sitting there and smiling.

"Hold your bat up John."

Random pics of John

I thought I would share a few pictures of John from the last couple of weeks.

He is always happy watching Thomas and Friends.

Deeply involved in the Thomas movie with Aunt Diane (Diant)

Putting a Thomas floor puzzle together...see a theme here?

His favorite toy...you guessed it, Thomas trains

Playing in the sprinklers

This is what I looked like the day I finally went into the hospital. I feel a bit better about myself knowing that a rather large baby was in there.

John told me one day that he needed to go upstairs and wash his hands. I didn't hear from him after a few minutes so I called up to Hans to see if everything was OK. When he told me that John never came upstairs we started looking for him and this is how we found him.

This was after we worked in the yard for 5 hours. He was so tired, he slept like this for about an hour and a half.
