Happy New Year!

Even though we had a Noon Year's Eve celebration at the library we couldn't forgo doing our normal New Year's tradition.  The boys and my parents look forward to this every year.  A family movie, pajamas, root bear floats, and noise-makers. Sounds like fun, right?

The boys love blowing up the air mattress in the living room to watch movies.

The boys always have a good time picking out their hats and noise makers.

The noise-makers were "lost" about 2 days after New Year's.  I'm surprised they lasted that long.

Noon Year's Eve

I'm almost caught up!
I teased you all a bit by posting about a current event (Gus' birthday).  Stick with me a little longer and I'll post about current events again.

The library hosted a Noon Year's Eve program.  Ms. Lisa was awesome and even though the library was closed she opened it for this program.

There were tables set up for everyone to decorate their own hats.  Hans managed to break his with his big, fat head the first time he put it on.

I joke about my husband often, but that is because he is extremely silly and sarcastic and can take it.  But I love this man with every fiber of my being.

Anders loaded his hat with stickers.  He's concentrating right now...you can tell by the fact that he is sticking his tongue out.

I may never get a girl, but that is okay because I have Sophie.  Look at this beautiful girl.
Sophie, Debbie, and Pam joined us for this event. It was fun having all of us there.

There was a selfie station set up with props.  The boys had fun with this.

Even the big boy had some fun.

 The four Goofballs.

Ms. Lisa sat everyone down and read a story about New Year's Eve.

The boys listened intently.  They love books.  Being read to is one of their favorite things.

After some dancing we counted down to Noon.  Hans was enlisted to pull the cord to release the balloon drop.  We figured if the whole thing flopped Hans could adlib and make it a fun, memorable experience for the kids.

Thankfully though, the balloon drop went off without a hitch.

We had a great time!

A New Year's Eve Party

On New Year's Eve we had a house full.  My parents were here.  Debbie and Pam came back from Florida so they were here with Sophie.  And then a neighbor called at the last second asking us to watch their son since the sitter had come down with the flu.  It was a loud, crazy night.  Since Debbie and Pam weren't here for Christmas, the boys had not gotten their presents from them yet.  So, before our extra guest came over, Sophie and the boys sat in the living room and opened present after present.

Sophie decided to wrap one of Hans' presents.  He wanted it to be the worst wrapped present there ever was, and Sophie was up to the challenge.  She even purposely spelled things wrong.  You know it is bad when I notice right away something isn't spelled right.

After presents and lots of food and lots of boys running around Sophie decided to beat Hans on the Wii.  Hans sure talked a good game, but Sophie had the skills.

Since we had such a fun night on the 31st we decided to make the 1st another fun night.

 The party animals.

These horns that Grandma always insists on buying them somehow got lost the next day.

Fritz even decided to live it up.

So even though it is February...Happy New Year!

New Year's Eve Party

It's time to rewind again, back to the last day of 2012.  Yes, yes, we all must do this because I can't seem blog about events anywhere near the time in which they occurred.  At least I've already blogged about Thanksgiving and Christmas.  You can only ask so much of me.

Last New Year's we started a tradition of having a fun party with the boys, complete with noise makers and ice cream floats.  John remembered this fondly and, when someone asked me what our New Years' plans were, he quickly laid out plans I didn't even know we had.  Thus a tradition was started.  There is no going back now.  The nice thing about this is that our party starts at 4 pm and ends at 8 pm.

Anders was helping Hans make pizza.  And by helping I mean he was eating the dough.
John played a little leap pad.  He could spend hours just like this.  Which is exactly why I set the timer for 20 minutes.  I've made the mistake of forgetting and then John tells me hours later that he is finished playing because the batteries are dead.
Then it was time for a movie marathon.  This year they picked the Rescuers and the Rescuers Down Under.  I was utterly grateful we weren't watching all 117 Buddies movies.

Then we rang in the New Year...at 8 o'clock.  That's my kind of party!

Ringing in the New Year

Last year the boys didn't care about New Year's.  I'm not even sure where we were on New Year's Eve.  Almost positive I didn't stay up until midnight.  Well, I didn't make it until midnight this year either but we sure had a little party going on in our house.  We had party hats and noise makers thanks to Grandma...not me.  We watched movies and ate stuffed burgers, homemade fries, popcorn, and drank root beer floats.  The boys sang and danced for us and we were all wild and crazy.  Then 8 o'clock rolled around and we put those kiddos to bed.  It was a fun evening.

Anders couldn't get the actual noise to come out of the noise maker, so he just pretended to use it and made the noise himself.

I tried to get a picture of all three boys using their noise makers while looking at the camera.  Not sure why I even tried.  I have a hard enough time getting them to all look at the camera without noise makers.

This is as good as it gets.  A fun evening with some fun boys.
