Riding on the Trike

John loves to ride his trike. He will ride around the back porch all day or ride in the basement when it is too hot, cold or raining outside. He is getting so much better at steering, but still bumps into things from time to time. Sometimes he will put his Mickey Mouse helmet on and use the elbow pads that came with it as skates and "skate" around the house...what a cutie.



My dad decided to take him on a walk. They were originally just going to go around the block, but John didn't want to go home so they went to the park about 4 or 5 blocks from our house.

John decided he had to have his Thomas backpack for the adventure.


John started of well...


but it didn't take long for him to get behind. He had a hard time getting over the bumps on the sidewalk, but also felt it necessary to stop and check out every little object that crossed his path.


John needed some direction...


okay, maybe he needed lots of direction.


Off they go! In another hour or so they should be at the park.

Four Wonderful Years

Hans and I are celebrating our four year anniversary today. It has been a wonderful and exciting four years that have seem to just fly by.

Baby hammock

After Gus was born I realized I didn't have proper sleeping accommodations for newborns. I had a pack 'n play with a bassinet that I used with John, unsuccessfully, and when my sleepy, sleepy Gus came home from the hospital he just refused to sleep in it. I don't think Gus' eyes really opened until his 2nd month, so the fact that he refused to sleep in this thing just made me realize it wasn't for the Fiene kids. My friend Connie told me about the Amby bed and although the site sells the bed and its features well, I couldn't bring myself to pay that kind of money for something I wasn't sure my kid would like. After some searching I found the site www.mamalittlehelper.com. This is a company that is relatively new, owned and operated by a lady named Laura and her husband, based in Frisco, Texas. This hammock was about a third of the cost of an Amby bed, so I thought it was worth a try. The day I received the hammock I put it all together and set my crying child inside and he immediatly calmed down and went to sleep...true story. This hammock was worth every single penny. Gus is sleeping in his crib now, but this hammock gave me, and Gus, many hours of sleep.
